Katie Brenckle has been named executive director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody.

Brenckle served as deputy director since November. The CVBD formed last August and the city formed in November 2008.

“As our first employee, Katie has been instrumental in helping establish the CVBD as a functioning organization to market Dunwoody for meetings and tourism,” said Brad Sturgeon, CVBD chairman of the board of directors.

The CVBD markets and promotes five Dunwoody hotels, Perimeter Mall and local restaurants and retail outlets.

Brenckle, a native of Roswell, previously served as tourism coordinator for the tourism authority in Thomasville, Ga.
