The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

An off-duty Doraville police officer who was allegedly driving drunk when he rear-ended another vehicle over the weekend has been suspended.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Kasey Lindsey, who has been a uniformed patrol officer for Doraville since January, has been suspended with pay, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into the incident.

Lindsey, 29,  first told DeKalb County police that he had fallen asleep before rear-ending another car about 7:45 a.m. Saturday on Memorial Drive near Rockbridge Road.

According to a police report obtained by Channel 2, officers asked Lindsey twice for his driver's license and proof of insurance, but he instead showed them his Doraville police badge.

Lindsey failed a field sobriety test, and according to the report, told and officer, "this is going to be the easiest DUI arrest you'll ever have. I'm not going to fight it. I was drinking."

The report said Lindsey, who told police he had been drinking a Doraville strip club, had a blood alcohol content of 0.151.

Lindsey was charged with DUI, following too closely, having no proof of insurance and driving with an invalid registration. He was released from the DeKalb jail early Sunday on $2,025 bond.
