The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The DeKalb County Redevelopment Agency authorized issuing $36.4 million in recovery zone bonds on Tuesday.

The federal government pays back 45 percent of the borrowing, which will save the county $6.1 million over issuing bonds on its own.

The agency, made up of the board of county commissioners and CEO Burrell Ellis, agreed that $28.4 million of the money will go toward upgrades to the county’s water and sewer system.

The remaining $8 million will be divvied up among renovations to the county Recorders Court, moving the North DeKalb Police precinct out of Dunwoody and near DeKalb Peachtree Airport and a new family resource center.
