DeKalb power outage possibly caused by squirrel
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A large chunk of DeKalb County was without electricity Tuesday morning, and utility officials said a squirrel was possibly to blame.
Georgia Power spokesman Jeff Wilson said a squirrel possibly got into the Hairston Road substation around 8 a.m., knocking out power to some 17,000 customers.
Wilson said crews began reconnecting customers around 9:15, and had all service restored by shortly before 10 a.m.
Wilson said the outage included parts of the Stone Mountain, Lithonia and Decatur areas.
The squirrel's condition was not immediately available.
