A DeKalb County police car flipped over Sunday night while chasing a pair of armed robbery suspects, police said.

The officer was not seriously injured, police said, but the crash clogged early Sunday evening eastbound traffic on I-20 near the Wesley Chapel Road exit at the I-285 intersection.

Police arrested two men accused of robbing a pedestrian at gunpoint near South DeKalb Mall in unincorporated Decatur, spokesman Officer Jason Gagnon said.

The robbery was reported around 7:15 p.m., and an officer patrolling near the mall responded to a description of the suspects and the red Dodge Durango they were driving, Gagnon said.

The patrol car got behind the SUV and chased it east to Wesley Chapel Road, roughly about 3.5 miles away, Gagnon said.

The squad car flipped over near the exit from I-20 to Wesley Chapel.

Other officers headed off the SUV near the Wesley Club Apartments on Wesley Chapel, witnesses said.

The suspects got out of the SUV and ran, Gagnon said. Officers chased after them and arrested the two men, he said.

The suspects have not been identified by police.
