Roberts’ apology came the same day The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the Organization of DeKalb Educators – the district’s largest teachers’ union – wanted Roberts to resign, saying she is a bad example for children.

On Friday, Roberts threatened to slug a CBS Atlanta reporter during an interview about the board member’s two daughters working for the school system.

Reached by the AJC on Tuesday, Roberts refused to answer questions, including if she plans to resign. However, she did issue a statement apologizing.

“In anger and frustration, I inappropriately threatened the reporter. I apologize to the reporter, Wendy Saltzman, for my outburst,” Roberts wrote in the statement.

On Monday, Roberts had said she did not regret her outburst. Roberts, who has been on the board for eight years, is up for re-election in November.
