Dad ordered to pay: former Bronco loses court appeal
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Georgia Court of Appeals has upheld an unusual child support requirement imposed on a former NFL player.
Two years ago, DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Clarence Seeliger ordered Travis Henry to put a quarter million dollars in a trust fund for a son who was living in Lithonia. At the time, Henry had nine children by nine wives, and the judge was concerned about Henry's ability to make his child support payments.
Henry appealed, claiming that Georgia law did not authorize a trust fund mandate. On Thursday, the Georgia Court of Appeals ruled against him.
It's been a tough year in court for the former Denver Broncos running back. This summer, he was sentenced to three years in prison by a federal judge after pleading guilty to trafficking cocaine.
