$2 million grant will train EMTs at DeKalb Tech
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A $2 million federal grant will help train unemployed workers to become emergency medical technicians.
U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) and U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis announced Friday the grant for DeKalb Technical College’s EMT and Paramedic Technology programs.
DeKalb Tech will use the grant to train unemployed workers for positions as first responders. The money will specifically help hire instructors, purchase technology and certify 224 workers over the next three years, according to Johnson.
The grant is part of the federal stimulus package’s initiative to provide training in healthcare and high-growth jobs.
