DeKalb stabbing ends with SWAT standoff

DeKalb County police ended a nearly three-hour standoff Monday night with a man believed to be involved in a stabbing.
Officers were called to the Eagle's Run Apartment complex at 2000 Bouldercrest Road near Atlanta around 4 p.m.
A man contracted by the apartment complex to do work in one of the units was found with multiple stabbing wounds near the complex tennis courts, police said.
He taken to a nearby hospital in critical condidion, police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.
Investigators were able to identify a person of interest, but when officers tried to talk to the man he barricaded himself inside his apartment. SWAT was called to the scene.
"After about a two-hour time, SWAT used tear gas to enter the building," Parish said.
Police arrested the man, and took him to a nearby hospital for precautionary observation, she said.
