Crossover Day 2013

By Melissa Abbey

It’s Crossover Day at the Georgia Capitol and legislators are scrambling to debate as many bills as they can.

If a bill has a chance to become law it must be passed in the chamber where it originated by the 30th day of the session, which is today. Once a bill has passed in one chamber it crosses over to the other, thus "Crossover Day." There are ways to finagle around the rule, but it’s tricky. Lawmakers will be working hard (and late) to get through a long list of bills today.

We’ve compiled the bills lawmakers will be dealing with today that matter to you and will update this page when a bill either passes or fails. There is also a live Twitter feed featuring the House and Senate members. Check back throughout the day to see how things are going at the Capitol.
