The mother of a 5-year-old who died after being hit by a car is grateful for the friends and strangers who have donated to help bury the little girl.

"For everyone out there that helped out, thank you so much," Brittiney Milligan posted on a Go Fund Me page. "My words can't explain how you have took alot off my plate to put my daughter to rest. I love y'all. May God keep blessing everyone."

Milligan and her daughter, Malayah McClendon, were crossing Flint River Road in Clayton County when the two were hit Dec. 20, according to police. Milligan's leg was broken, but Malayah hit the windshield and was brain dead after being taken to the hospital, the family said.

On Friday, Malayah was removed from life support and died, the family said. No charges were filed in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Visitation for Malayah will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Hattie G. Watkins Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
