A man was shot and killed at a DeKalb County apartment complex Wednesday night, officials said.

According to a DeKalb police incident report, officers found the victim at the Hidden Villas Apartment Homes in the 2900 block of Panthersville Road about 10:30 p.m.

He was lying on his back outside one of the buildings and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has not been identified.

As investigators searched the scene, they found a semi-automatic handgun, an iPhone, a watch and Taco Bell food and wrappers, according to the incident report. The evidence was on the ground between a Ford Explorer and Chevrolet Malibu, which both had multiple bullet holes in them.

One witness told police they saw the shooting, after which the suspect took off running, according to the report.

Police are investigating and have not announced any arrests.
