Mother of teen injured in drive-by begs shooters to come forward

Someone fired several shots into a Cobb County home early Thursday morning, striking and injuring a teenager.

A 19-year-old man was injured when bullets tore through his Cobb County home early Thursday, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The drive-by shooting happened just before 3 a.m. on Hall Drive near Smyrna. The man’s mother told the news station she woke up to her son running into her bedroom, covered in blood.

“(He) said, ‘Mom, I’ve been shot,’” Claire George recalled. “He was laying in his bed and three shots came through and one of them hit him in his leg, so he’s at the hospital.”

There were four people sleeping inside the home at the time of the shooting, including a child, Channel 2 reported.

George said her son’s bed is beneath a living room window on the front of the house. He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover.

She told the news station she doesn’t know why her house or her family was targeted. She said she doesn’t feel safe living there anymore.

“If anybody knows who did this, please, y’all putting lives at stake,” she said. “Turn yourselves in.”
