Community leaders on Thursday increased efforts to find a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl walking to school.

The girl was heading down Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard about 9 a.m. Sept. 29 when a man dragged her into a wooded area in Mozley Park in southwest Atlanta, forced himself on her and threatened to hurt her if she screamed, police said.

Activist Derrick Boazman and other community members went door to door Thursday to pass out fliers with a sketch of the man wanted in connection with the assault, according to Channel 2 Action News. They also offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Crime Stoppers Atlanta earlier this week offered a $2,000 reward.

Boazman said he has a message for the accused man.

“You would do better to turn yourself into the police,” Boazman said. “And that simply means as men in this community, we’re going find you, we’re going to hunt you down. It’s just that simple.”

Anyone with information about the wanted man can contact Crime Stoppers by calling 404-577-8477, visiting crimestoppersatlanta.org or texting CSA and the tip to 274637. Tipsters do not have to give their name or any identifying information to be eligible for the reward.
