Atlanta police are searching for another person of interest in the death of a West End man who died while trying to escape a home invasion.

Detectives secured video of a man who they believe used Jose Greer’s bank card at a McDonald’s restaurant on Martin Luther King Jr. Dr and Joseph Lowery Boulevard last week. Police hope someone will be able to identify the man, possibly by his backpack, which carries distinctive designs, police Sgt. Warren Pickard said.

There is a $35,000 reward being offered.

The 51-year-old Greer, an executive sales manager at Comcast, died in surgery after he jumped off his balcony and landed on the concrete 30 feet below when three young men kicked in the door of his third-story apartment Dec. 8.

Police have also released video of suspects from security cameras at the Oak Street apartments where Greer lived and a picture of a distinctive hat that they believe one of the home invaders wore.

So far, police are only certain that the men stole a container of coins, prompting Maj. Adam Lee to note that a petty theft had ended in a fatality.
