“The ball just seemed to pop into my hands and I just took it from there,” Myers said. “There’s no question that play changed the game.”
Riding the momentum of Myers’ touchdown, the Lions added 14 more points in the ensuing two minutes to take a 21-0 lead into the second quarter.
“Playing on the road, to get an early lead was huge for us,” MLK head coach Corey Jarvis said. “We knew we had to score first.”
In the second half, MLK’s offense struggled to regain its rhythm, turning the ball over three times. The Lions’ defense yielded just one score to preserve the win.
“The defense played brilliant all game long but they really saved us in the second half,” Myers said. “This was just a huge win for us.”
