It took some late-game heroics to keep the No. 1 team alive in the Class AAAAA baseball tournament.
With Brookwood trailing 5-3 and down to its last out, Jordan Erisman and Ross Heffley hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, and Erisman connected again with an opposite field two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to lead the state's top-ranked Broncos past Alpharetta, 7-5.

"I didn't want [the seventh inning or the ninth inning at-bat) to be my last," said Erisman, the winning pitcher. "It feels great."
"Bottom line is [the team] competes," Brookwood coach Rick Howard said. "And they know they can depend on each other. I can't say enough about Jordan Erisman and all these seniors."
Alpharetta trailed 3-1 before batting around in the sixth inning and scoring four runs without the benefit of a hit. Brookwood relievers Cameron Hall, Michael Brown and Erisman struggled in relief of starter Matt Adams. Hall hit a batter to start the inning, then Brown came in and threw a wild pitch, chasing Tommy Butler home to make it 3-2. Erisman relieved and forced in the tying run with a bases-loaded walk, and first baseman Chase Hawkins' throwing error put Alpharetta ahead 5-3.
Raiders starter Zach Garrett had retired nine straight hitters and was two strikes away from a complete game victory before Erisman and Heffley connected.
That's when Erisman settled in and allowed just a single and a walk in his final three innings.
With the score tied 1-1 in the second, Brookwood right fielder Jon Robinson hit a two-run double to put the Broncos ahead 3-1. Adams made it stand up after a sneaky pickoff move eliminated two base runners in the second and third innings.
The junior left-hander ran out of gas in the fifth and left with the bases loaded and two outs. Reliever Cameron Hall's second pitch went to the backstop, and Alpharetta catcher Bruce Nyland was called out at home on a close play for the final out. Raiders coach Chris McRaney was thrown out of the game after arguing the call and bumping the home plate umpire.
Brookwood (26-2) will host Norcross in a second-round series, which begins Wednesday.
Alpharetta, which had to win its final regular-season game to get in the playoffs, finished 19-11.
Kell 9, South Gwinnett 4: Taylor Buckles, Brandon Williams and Nick Hicks combined for seven hits to lead Kell (24-5). Kell's Adam Morgan was the winning pitcher, giving up four runs on eight hits and striking out 11. Buckles was 3-for-4; Williams was 2-for-3 with a home run and triple, and Hicks had two hits.
South Forsyth 5, Harrison 4: Brian Adams doubled in the sixth inning and later scored on Will Gates' grounder to give South Forysth the victory. South Forsyth's Curtis Parker pitched five innings and improved his record to 5-1. Zach Alvord pitched two complete innings for the save.
Mundy's Mill 4, Union Grove 2: Miguel Starks struck out 11 while allowing only four hits in a complete game victory. Quintavious Drains went 3-for-3 with two doubles for the Tigers, and Starks went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice fly.
