Tempe, Ariz. — Falcons running back Michael Turner finished tied for second in the Associated Press’ voting for the NFL Most Valuable Player award.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning easily won the award, collecting 32 of 50 votes, it was announced Friday.
Turner and Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington finished second with four votes each.
Voting was done by sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL.
Manning joins Brett Favre as the only three-time winners of the award.
Turner ran for 1,699 yards and 17 touchdowns this season.
“That’s very special,” left guard Justin Blalock said. “Any time you can get a guy up in those type of numbers it’s really saying something. First of all he was healthy enough to take on that kind of workload really speaks to how takes care of his body.”
