Winter officially ended five days ago, but snow flurries fell across parts of metro Atlanta Monday, and freezing temperatures were predicted Monday night across the entire region.
The first flakes were reported in Cobb and Cherokee counties but by early afternoon snow flakes were falling in Midtown and Grant Park. No accumulation was expected.

"Everybody has had a few flakes but nothing is sticking," said Mike Leary, a meteorologist who said the weather service didn't have a complete list of which counties got snow.
The Weather Service posted a freeze warning for the northern half of Georgia for early Tuesday. The warning, in effect from 1 to 9 a.m., calls for temperatures to be below freezing for four to eight hours.
Many trees and shrubs are in a sensitive phase of growing and could be damaged by prolonged freezing temperatures.
Georgia peach growers are on alert. A freeze this time last year wiped out much of the peach crop.
Overnight lows Monday are expected to range from the mid-20s in the mountains to around 30 degrees in metro Atlanta, the Weather Service said.
The forecast for the rest of the week for metro Atlanta calls for sunny skies and highs in the low 60s on Tuesday, followed by lows Tuesday night in the mid-30s.
Wednesday through Friday will be partly to mostly sunny and warmer, with highs in the low to mid-70s and lows in the mid- to upper 40s.
A 20 percent chance of showers is forecast for Friday night, increasing to 30 percent on Saturday, the Weather Service said.
