Man rescued from creek
Monday, July 13, 2009
A man who fell 30 feet into Vickery Creek while trying to walk across a waterfall has been rescued by Roswell emergency personnel.
Firefighters used a Stokes basket with a floatation device to get the man ashore. The National Park Service assisted in the rescue.
The man told firefighters he fell 30 feet and landed on his tailbone.
Crews had to brace the man’s back, which he injured in the fall.
The man was transported to a hospital by ambulance. He has not been identified, and the extent of his injuries is not known, although authorities say they don’t appear to be life-threatening. The man’s 11-year-old son and the dog were not injured.
