The man accused of shooting her, Marquet S. Donald, 21, of Hampton, surrendered to police later Thursday and is scheduled to appear before a Clayton County magistrate judge Saturday morning.

Police said Donald slipped through the side door of the restaurant, located near Stockbridge, shot Alphabet inside and shot Clayton County police Officer Matthew Whitton, 28, outside during a struggle over the officer's gun.

Whitton sustained a wrist wound. He too was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where hospital officials said he was in stable condition.

Donald is charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, aggravated assault, numerous counts of armed robbery, kidnapping, felony obstruction and motor vehicle theft.
