Repairs on a water main that broke Monday in north DeKalb County will continue until at least Thursday, though the county says water service already has been restored.

Meanwhile, county crews are also working to repair another break on a smaller line near DeKalb Peachtree Airport that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

In the earlier break, county spokeswoman Kristie Swink said Tuesday, “No one is out of water because we were able to isolate that area.” Swink said the pipe is able to carry water at a lower-than-normal pressure while under repair and that customers in the area might experience low pressure. She said repair work would take two to three days.

The water main is 23 feet below grade along the southbound I-85 access road between Clairmont and North Druid Hills roads. With workers digging to repair the pipe, one lane of the two-lane road was closed Tuesday. It will remain closed until the work is completed, Swink said.

The 16-inch main broke around 4:30 p.m. Monday, and resulted in a loss of water service for some customers. The state requires boil advisories when water pressure drops below a certain level for a specified period of time, but Swink said no advisory was required in this instance.

An advisory was also not necessary for the break Tuesday afternoon, she said. The break on a 6-inch main on Trentwood Place near DeKalb Peachtree Airport probably resulted in a loss of service there, she said, adding that the repairs would take a few hours.
