Guests returned to their rooms Wednesday morning after a fire and chemical leak at downtown Atlanta's Marriott Marquis hotel sent some 700 people to the nearby Hilton hotel.

The fire started in a utility closet in one of the 50-story hotel's parking decks. Fire officials said chlorine that was part of the air-conditioning system escaped during the blaze.

The Marriott Marquis is located at 265 Peachtree Center Avenue.

Shortly before midnight, firefighters reported the blaze was contained.

No one was injured, guests were evacuated and offered rooms at the Hilton hotel downtown, said Atlanta Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Bill May. They were allowed to return to their rooms at the Marriott early Wedneday morning.
