Kucinich visits Atlanta
Posted at: Wednesday, February 11, 2004, 02:41 AM
He was ignored in Iowa and swamped in South Carolina. But when Dennis Kucinich came to Atlanta on Tuesday night, he was treating his best showings yet — third-place finishes last weekend in Washington and Maine — as, well, wins.
“We had a very, very good week,” he told a crowd at Outwrite Bookstore in Midtown before appearances at Georgia Tech and Eddie’s Attic in Decatur. “From sea to shining sea, these caucuses showed that the country is receptive to the ideas I’m bringing.”
With the fewest delegates of any Democratic presidential candidate, limited press coverage and dwindling funds, Kucinich’s nomination seems about as likely as Howard Dean repeating his “scream speech.”
Still, the impish Ohio congressman showed every sign that he intends to keep going as he signed copies of his book, “A Prayer for America,” while the theme from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” played in the background.
His supporters kept showing up. “He’s just so cute,” sighed one on her way out.

Pastrami or tofu?
Posted at: Wednesday, February 11, 2004, 02:40 AM
It was a close call for two candidates Tuesday in Tennessee. Clark was greeting voters and having lunch with his wife, Gert, at a popular Nashville deli called Noshville. Meanwhile, Kucinich was greeting voters at a market next door.
When Kucinich learned that Clark was nearby, he went over to wish the general good luck. Clark recommended that Kucinich order a hot pastrami sandwich. ‘Do they make this with tofu?” Kucinich asked. He’s a vegan, meaning he eats no animal products.
