Campaigning in Atlanta
Posted at: Wednesday, February 18, 2004, 02:38 AM
Georgia’s seen a smattering of campaign visits by the Democratic presidential contenders over the past year. Now, with its March 2 primary just a few weeks away, it’s about to see an onslaught.
The action starts today with visits by both the Rev. Al Sharpton and John Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry. Sharpton’s slate of appearances actually began Tuesday night, with an address at the AME Zion Annual Banquet. Later today, he’s supposed to join a workers’ march, then hold a rally with students at Clark Atlanta University.
Heinz Kerry is slated to tour the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Center. On Thursday morning, she’s to meet with Young Democrats at Emory University.
Also Thursday, John Edwards is to hold a rally at the Atlanta University Center.
