Responding to health-conscious and financially sensitive consumers, Moe’s Southwest Grill is slimming down one of its burritos to create a new value meal for the first part of 2009.
Moe’s will offer for $4.99 the Joey Jr. Bundle, which includes chips, salsa, a drink and a smaller version of the Joey Bag of Donuts burrito. The bundle is being offered at participating locations until March 1. Moe’s, owned by Atlanta-based Focus Brands, has more than 400 outlets in the United States.
The burrito will vary based on customer choices, but the Joey Jr. will be have about 5 ounces of contents wrapped in a 10-inch tortilla. The full-sized Joey has about 11 ounces of contents in a 12-inch tortilla.
“For many adults and teenagers, the Joey Bag of Donuts is too much,” Sara Riggsby, director of marketing for Moe’s, said in a press release. “We noticed women and tweens in particular struggling to finish an entire adult-size burrito. The Joey Jr. Bundle enables us to offer a whole meal at right-size portion and a price that people can manage amidst this tough economy.”
