School days will be longer in Marietta
For the AJC
Students at Marietta city schools students will have to stay in class an hour longer to make up for days missed when schools were closed last week.
The Marietta Board of Education on Tuesday approved School Superintendent Emily Lembeck’s recommendation to add one hour to the school day for a 13-day period for Jan. 31-Feb. 4, March 7-11 and March 14-16. Marietta schools will also be open March 14 and 15 on scheduled off-days to cover missed time.
In a letter to parents, Lembeck said cancelling the February winter break wasn’t an option because many families and employees had made travel plans.
