Has a serial bank robber struck again?

Despite similarities to a string of bank heists across northern metro Atlanta, police are not making a connection to the latest bank robbed outside the Perimeter.

A white man in a multicolored baseball cap walked into the BB&T bank at 676 Chastain Road in Kennesaw last week, and passed a demand note to a teller, Cobb County police said.

He received an undisclosed amount of money from that teller and from a teller in an adjacent booth, placed the money in a bag and tucked the bag underneath his shirt before fleeing,  Hernandez said.

Police described the robber as being approximately 25 years old, 5-fee-7-inches to 5-feet-8-inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue, white and yellow stripped shirt, jeans and a green multicolored baseball cap.

The description is similar to that of the so-called "lunchtime bandit" who struck six banks near or north of the perimeter in the last month, making most of his robbery demands just before noon and driving away in a maroon Chevy Tahoe, according to police reports.

Local  and federal authorities have tracked robberies from late October in Buckhead, Roswell, northwest Atlanta, Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.

But Hernandez said there was no preliminary information to link Friday's robbery to these other heists.

Investigation continues.
