The accident happened around 5:15 a.m. on North Booth Road near Bells Ferry Road.

Cobb police spokesman Mike Bowman said Jeffery Ingram, 32, of Kennesaw was jogging along the edge of the roadway when he was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse driven by William Benton, 50, of Doraville.

Ingram was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition, Bowman said.

Bowman said investigation into the incident is still underway, and charges are pending.

Jennifer Echols was taking her children to nearby Chalker Elementary and Palmer Middle School when she came up on the accident site.

Echols, who lives in the Yorktown subdivision, told the AJC that she has called police numerous times to complain about how fast motorists drive on North Booth Road.

“They go so fast, even though it’s a school zone,” Echols said, estimating that drivers routinely go 60 to 70 mph on North Booth. “If you do go the speed limit, they ride on the back of your car and they lay on the horn and get very upset.”
