Donations are being sought to help with the cost of the funeral for the 5-year-old Cobb County girl who was hit just seconds after she stepped off a school bus Wednesday and killed.

People have flocked to help the family.

Pete Spriggs, program direct for News Talk 750 WSB, said Neal Boortz's morning talk show was flooded with calls following a news report of the child's death and accounts about the family's tight finances because the a family member had just been laid off.

That is when they found the school system had already set up a fund.

Cash or checks can be sent to the Campos Memorial Fund, Cobb Schools Foundation, 514 Glover St., Marietta 30060. The foundation's Website says it is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students and faculty of Cobb County schools.

Karla Campos, a kindergarten student at Mountain View Elementary in east Cobb County, was just returning home from school when she was hit. Police said her mother was waiting and witnessed the car the 1995 Nissan Altima continue  past the stopped bus, pulling to the right  onto the curb and into the grass and then hitting her little girl. Police do not know why the car didn't stop or why it left the road.

Police have charged 82-year-old Edith M. Anderson of Roswell with vehicular homicide.
