Road rage led to a physical altercation on an I-75 exit ramp Wednesday afternoon in Cobb County, police said.

And if that wasn't enough chaos, the fight apparently got the attention of two gun-wielding passersby, who each stopped to help, police said.

No one was seriously injured in the incident, which happened around 12:30 p.m. on the exit ramp to Chastain Road, Officer Joseph Hernandez with Cobb police told the AJC.

“This stemmed off of some sort of road rage between two men," Hernandez said.

Both men apparently pulled off of I-75 northbound and onto the exit ramp, Hernandez said.

End of story, right? No.

One of the men apparently approached the other man's vehicle, and both men got out of their vehicles in the middle of the ramp and began fighting, Hernandez said.

A third man exiting the interstate saw the fight and stopped in an attempt to help, police said. The man produced a handgun in an attempt to break up the fight.

A fourth man, who also had a gun, stopped on the exit ramp, Hernandez said.

"Both of them had only stopped after seeing these guys fighting in the road," Hernandez said.

By the time police arrived at the scene, the aggressor had left the scene, Hernandez said. But the other three men cooperated fully with the investigation, he said.

Now, investigators want to find the man who left the scene, Hernandez said. He'll face a battery charge, he said.

Police officers determined the two men with guns were only trying to help, and no other charges are expected, Hernandez said.

"They were acting in good faith to prevent further harm," he said.
