Cobb County police are investigating the Tuesday afternoon armed robbery of a bank near Marietta.

A man approached a teller window at the Regions Bank in the 2400 block of Roswell Road just before 4 p.m. and passed a "demand note" to the teller requesting U.S. currency, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

"At the same time, he opened up his jacket and displayed a shoulder holster containing a handgun," Pierce said.

The robber took the money and put it in a briefcase before fleeing in a full-size white van.

Pierce described the gunman as white, 6 feet tall, weighing 170 to 190 pounds, and having dark skin. He was in his late 20s to mid-30s, and investigators believe he had on a wig, mustache and a partial beard.

He was last seen wearing a dark suit jacket, a plain white shirt, brown dress pants and black shoes, Pierce said. He was also wearing dark glasses and brown latex gloves.
