A 55-year-old Cobb County man died when he was run over by a forklift Friday, a deputy coroner told the AJC.

Lewis William Leary, of Kennesaw, was struck by the industrial-size forklift around 7:30 a.m. at the Gerdau Ameristeel plant in Cartersville, Brian Irish, Bartow County deputy coroner, told the AJC Sunday night.

"He was walking from one building to another," Irish said.

Leary died at the scene, Irish said.
