A spokeswoman for the Marietta Police Department said the boy was expected to recover.

The boy was crossing Powder Springs Street near Oregon Trail with his mother and two other children shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday when he was hit by a Honda Accord driven by a Marietta man, said another Marietta police spokesman Michael Gardner.

The boy, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in critical condition, Gardner said.

He said there were no injuries to the other pedestrians or to the driver.

No charges have been filed, but the incident remains under investigation, Gardner said.
