Auditions for King celebration begin

People interested in performing in the 24th annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Marietta will have the opportunity to audition beginning this week.

Auditions will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, 6 p.m. Jan. 5 and 10 a.m. Jan. 9 at the Cobb Civic Center, 548 S. Marietta Parkway.

Those selected will take part in the ceremony on Jan. 18, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre.

The event, which is free and open to the public, includes the presentation of the "Living the Dream" award to a member of the community who exemplifies King's ideals. The event is sponsored by the Cobb County NAACP and Cobb County government.
