$92K worth of marijuana found in Smyrna home, police say

Police discovered $92,000 worth of marijuana growing in a Smyrna home while investigating a tip from the public.

Authorities say they found a total of approximately 1.4 pounds of processed marijuana and 17 whole marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $92,000.

Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Police say Jonathan Otto Early, 39, of Smyrna, was arrested on Feb. 27 for the cultivation for marijuana.
Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Robert Scott Smith, 51, of Cartersville, was arrested on March 2 for the cultivation of marijuana, police said.

On Feb. 15, officers pinpointed the odor of marijuana to two streets: Oakdale Road and Oakdale Court, according to Officer Michael Smith. Two weeks later, officers executed a search warrant at 5228 Oakdale Road, where they found an indoor growing operation, Smith said.

About 1.4 pounds of processed marijuana and 17 plants, valued at $92,000, were found in the home, police said.

Jonathan Otto Early, 39, of Smyrna, and 51-year-old Robert Scott Smith of Cartersville were arrested for cultivating marijuana, police said. Both men posted $10,000 bond and have been released from the Cobb County jail.
