47-year-old woman killed in Cobb wreck
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Cobb County police have not yet charged the driver in a three-vehicle wreck that killed a Paulding County woman and critically injured her son Friday afternoon.
Charges are expected to be filed against Jeffrey L. House of Powder Springs, who was driving a 1988 Jeep Comanche, said Officer Joseph Hernandez with Cobb County police. House was not injured.
House, 67, apparently made a left turn onto Lost Mountain Road and pulled into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer, Hernandez said. Following the impact, the Blazer then collided with a Honda Odyssey, causing the Blazer to overturn.
The driver of the Blazer, 47-year-old Pennie Ann Cearfoss of Dallas, died at the scene, Hernandez said. A 17-year-old passenger, Joshua Cearfoss, was flown to Atlanta Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
Two others in the Blazer, 17-year-old Justin Cearfoss and Jeffrey Cearfoss, 25, were taken by ambulance to Atlanta Medical, police said. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Neither of the 17-year-olds were wearing seatbelts and both were ejected from the vehicle, Hernandez said.
The driver of the Honda, 61-year-old Anabelle Cordova of Powder Springs, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Two minor children in her vehicle were not injured.
The wreck occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Lost Mountain Road near the intersection with Midway Road near Powder Springs, police said.
