10-year-old boy shot in Cobb County
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Investigators are trying to determine how a 10-year-old boy was shot Wednesday afternoon in Cobb County.
The boy, whose name has not been released, was shot in the chest, according to Officer Joe Hernandez with Cobb police.
The child was conscious and able to speak when officers arrived at the scene. He was taken to Grady hospital by ambulance for treatment of an injury that Hernandez said was not life-threatening.
The incident happened at a home on Hicks Drive, near Marietta.
Hernandez said the weapon was in the hands of a 12-year-old boy at the time of the incident.
Police are trying to determine if any adults were present and who the weapon belonged to, Hernandez said.
A Grady spokeswoman declined to comment on the child's condition due to his age.
