Missing man found after walking away from Clayton impound lot

A 65-year-old Augusta man has been located after wandering away from a vehicle impound lot Saturday afternoon in Clayton County, police said Sunday.

Clayton County Police Department Eric Gus Zahl and his family were at Sosebee Wrecker Service in Hapeville picking up his car when he walked away, police said.

Zahl’s wife told police that her husband -- who has been diagnosed with dementia -- walked away when she was inside the office at Sosebee taking care of paperwork to get the car released.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. at 3961 Old Dixie Highway.
