A 24-year-old woman reported as "missing and endangered" allegedly lied about being kidnapped, police said.

Deniecia E. Lester was last seen around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 in the Riverdale area, Fulton County police spokesman Sgt. Scott McBride said.

"She text-messaged her husband that she had been kidnapped," McBride said. "Naturally, her husband called the police."

Thursday afternoon, police put out an alert for Lester, and a team of two Fulton police and six U.S. Marshals searched for her in the Clayton County area.

Police discovered she had not been kidnapped, finding her around 9:30 p.m. in an apartment on Roy Hue Road, McBride said.

"She was fine," he said.

Lester was arrested and taken to the Fulton County jail on charges of false report of a crime, police said.
