Forest Park man dies after Alabama bar fight
For the AJC
DOTHAN, Ala. — Authorities in Alabama say a 43-year-old Georgia man who was handcuffed following a bar fight has died.
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd tells The Dothan Eagle he declared Johnnie Kamahi Warren dead at 3:16 a.m. Monday at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. Byrd says Warren lived in Forest Park and was in Dothan on business.
Dothan police say they got a call at 1:48 a.m. from a bar where employees struggled with a man. Police say Warren was combative when a sheriff's deputy tried to subdue him, and the deputy used a stun gun on him twice. Dothan police officers arrived and handcuffed him.
Shortly after he was handcuffed, Warren began to lose consciousness. Medical personnel were unable to revive him.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
