Cracker Barrel attack suspect's lawyer postpones court hearing
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A court hearing for a south Georgia man charged with attacking a woman outside a Clayton County Cracker Barrel was postponed Monday after a request from his defense attorney.
Troy Dale West Jr.'s attorney requested his hearing, scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, be postponed, Clayton County District Attorney Tracy Graham Lawson told the AJC. Prosecutors did not object, she said.
A new date has not been set, according to court records.
West's lawyer, Tony Axam, did not return a phone call nor an email Monday.
West, 47, was released from jail last month on a $320,500 bond.
West is charged with aggravated assault, cruelty to children, false imprisonment, battery and disorderly conduct.
Prosecutors said West beat and kicked Tashawnea Hill, an Army reservist, as she was coming out of the Cracker Barrel in Morrow in September. Hill’s 7-year-old daughter watched as West attacked the mother while yelling racial slurs, according to prosecutors.
Last month, Superior Court Judge Geronda Carter agreed to release West on bond after pleas from his family. The judge ordered West to wear an ankle monitor and remain at his Poulan home.
