Clayton's transit service nears its final day

Clayton County’s C-TRAN transit service is scheduled to hit the brakes for good in less than three weeks.

C-Tran bus service will come to an end March 31st and many signs are posted at stops informing the riding public of its demise. Many in the county are upset with the decision to stop service.

With all buses required to be back in the C-TRAN lot by 11:59 p.m. on March 31, MARTA, which currently operates the service, has announced the following schedule changes:

  • Route 500: The last outbound bus Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport will depart at 9:30 p.m.
  • Route 501: The final inbound bus from the Clayton County Justice Center will depart at 10:09 p.m.
  • Route 502: The last inbound bus from the Jonesboro Courthouse will depart at 9:35 p.m.
  • Route 503: The last inbound bus from Mt. Zion Road and Mt. Zion Parkway will depart at 10:00 p.m.
  • Route 504: The last inbound bus via Taylor Road will depart the Justice Center at 5:56 p.m. The final outbound train via Taylor Road will depart the Airport at 7:30 p.m.
  • The last inbound trip via Pointe South Parkway will depart the Justice Center at 9:30 p.m. The final outbound bus via Pointe South Parkway will exit the Airport at 10:30 p.m.

By day's end MARTA will return all equipment and assets of C-TRAN to Clayton County. Clayton's Board of Commissioners voted last year to eliminate the transit system.
