Clayton youth arrested, charged with bomb threats at school
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A 14-year-old Clayton County youth faces eight charges, including three felony counts of making terrorist threats, after he allegedly phoned in bomb threats and disrupted classes two days in a row at Morrow High School, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The youth, a freshman at the school, called 911 twice Monday and once Tuesday from a cell phone inside the school, according to Clayton County Sheriff Kem Kimbrough. The teen's identity was not disclosed because he is a juvenile.
In a 911 tape obtained by Channel 2, the caller says, “I have a bomb in Morrow school. At 3 p.m. o’clock it will be going off.” The caller goes on to say he put the bomb in the gym and wants $2 million delivered to Fairview Park.
Besides upsetting students, parents and staff members, the hoaxes required a response by dozens of law enforcement officers and other emergency responders and cost the county more than $7,000 in manpower and equipment, Kimbrough said.
"I would urge every child and urge every parent to talk with their children about the consequences of their actions so we don't have to deal with something like this,” Kimbrough told Channel 2.
