The Clayton County school board voted to fire a teacher accused of ordering a hit on a student, officials said.

In a unanimous vote, the nine-member board decided to uphold the recommendation made in December by a tribunal to terminate Mundy's Mill High School teacher Randolphe Forde.

"We ratified the tribunal's decision," Chairwoman Alieka Anderson said.

Forde was arrested and charged in October with making terroristic threats against an 11th grade student in one of his classes. Authorities allege that Forde asked whether the student was gay, then offered $50 to a classmate to "put a hit" on the student.

The student's attorney, Terrence Madden, said the school didn't do enough early enough to address the situation between his client and Forde.

"My client is having a hard time. He's under psychological care. He had to change schools, and he is still being teased, called a tattletale," Madden said Tuesday night.

"He has no place teaching young, developing minds," Madden said of Forde. "Even if he was kidding, it's still egregious."
