A 7-year-old child has died after drowning in an apartment complex swimming pool in Suwanee Monday, according to a Gwinnett Fire Department Media Release.

Gwinnett Firefighters responded to a call from the Amli at McGinnis Ferry Apartments in Suwanee.

Crews found the male victim, identified as Daniel Ha Min Byoun of Lawrenceville, lying on the pool deck unconscious and unresponsive.

Byoun was briefly kept alive by an adult bystander who pulled the child,  floating face down, out of the water and administered CPR. Police continued CPR until the fire department arrived. The amount of time Byoun was submerged is still unclear.

Firefighters administered advanced life support procedures and transported the victim to the Emory Johns Creek Hospital Emergency Room.

According to police at the scene, Byoun’s prognosis was not favorable and he was pronounced dead very shortly after arriving to the ER.

Suwanee police said Byoun was visiting the apartment complex with his mother and other members of their church. According to police, the drowning appears to be accidental.
