No ID yet of person killed in fire
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Investigators have not yet determined the name of the person found dead after a Cherokee County fire.
One person died in a fire Thursday afternoon, but the body was not found until several hours, investigators said.
The log-style home on Knox Bridge Trail, off Ga. 20, was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived just before 12:30 p.m., according to Tim Cavender, spokesman for the Cherokee County fire department. The fire destroyed the home.
A neighbor told firefighters someone was possibly in the home when the fire started, but investigators were unable to locate anyone until around 6 p.m., Cavender said.
Cavender told the AJC on Friday that the body had been taken to the state crime lab for positive identification.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday.
