Head-on crash kills 84-year-old Cartersville woman

An 84-year-old Cartersville woman who was in a head-on collision in Waleska Saturday night has died, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.
Carrie Akin died Sunday night of injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred on Reinhardt College Parkway just west of Land Road. Akin was a passenger in a car driver by her daughter, Lori Kingsland, who was not hurt, the Sheriff's Office said.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the preliminary investigation found that Kingsland's car crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Nha Tran of Canton. Tran was treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No charges have been filed.
