Cherokee authorities break Mexican drug ring

Cherokee County authorities say they've arrested eight people after a three-month investigation into a Mexican drug trafficking organization.
The county's Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad conducted six searches in Cherokee, Fulton and DeKalb counties. Agents seized five pounds of methamphetamine, one and a half pounds of cocaine, seven handguns and $40,000.
Arrested in last week's raids were Nadeyda Romero-Reynosa of Atlanta; Arazeli Pineda of Atlanta; Arturo Majia of Atlanta; Eduardo Rosales-Tinoco of Atlanta; Gabriela Salinas Gomez of Atlanta; Maria Isabel Guzman-Gariby of Canton; Herman Santana of Dunwoody; and Fernando Penalosa-Sanchez of Canton.
All were taken to the Cherokee County Jail.
