Cherokee County couple thanks fire agency for support

A grateful husband and wife presented Cherokee County fire officials with an American flag Tuesday as thanks for supporting their family during husband’s yearlong deployment in Afghanistan.
Cecil and Babette Davis also are officers in the Fire Department, he a lieutenant and she a sergeant. They presented fire chiefs with a flag that was flown over Camp Blackhorse in Afghanistan on Sept. 11 during a ceremony at Fire Station 12 in Waleska.
Cecil Davis served with the U.S. Army National Guard in Afghanistan as a combat medic and adviser assisting U.S. troops and training the Afghan army. He returned home on May 28, 2009.
Davis is a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Desert Storm. He has been a guardsman for five years.
